“I breathed deeply, inhaling the intoxicating combination of horses and hay. Today was going to be a good day. I just knew it.”
A Run At Love by Toni Shiloh
Set in the world of beautiful horses, this love story of two best friends figuring out if they are meant to be each other’s person is fun, sweet, and satisfying. A Run At Love had me hooked from the first paragraph and kept me engaged until the final just-right ending.
Piper McKinney was raised in Kentucky on her adoptive parents’ thoroughbred farm. Tucker Hale has been her best friend since childhood. When Piper buys her own farm and hires Tucker to train her horse, Dream, she makes it clear that her sites are set on winning the Kentucky Derby.
Dream is a dream horse and things are going smoothly until a reporter begins to dig into Piper’s personal life as a transracial adoptee and she’s unsure of his motives. To complicate matters further, her parents are implicated in a scandal that threatens to mar Piper’s credibility as well.
“Award-winning Toni Shiloh makes a run for the roses with this heartwarming novel that reminds us that sometimes the greatest victories are found within our own hearts” http://tonishiloh.com
According to her website, Toni is a wife, mom, and award-winning Christian contemporary romance author who writes “soulfully romantic” novels. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), Faith, Hope, and Love Christian Writers (FHLCW), and has been praised by Oprah Daily, POPSUGAR, Library Journal, and Booklist, as well as being a Parable Group Bestseller.

She says her inspiration for her love stories comes from her 20+ year romance with her husband. They’ve been together since the day they met when Toni was serving in the United States Air Force. They currently live in Virginia where they are raising their two teen boys.
Toni Shiloh has been on my to-be-read list for a while now and when I saw A Run At Love trending and available on my CloudLibrary app, I snapped it up. I’m glad I did. I was also happy to find that it is one of three novels in her Love In the Spotlight series and that she has quite a backlist, promising lots more good reading.

If you’re looking for a good Valentine read, grab a cup of tea, some of your favorite chocolates, and cozy up with A Run At Love. It’s full of excitement, tears, and laugh-out-loud moments. Piper and Tuck’s banter is witty and fun and his two friends, Chris and Lamont, are hilarious as they keep a running text thread going throughout the book.
I hope you enjoy A Run At Love as much as I did. I will definitely be reading more books from Toni Shiloh in the near future. In fact, the other two books in this series are already purchased and queued up on my Kindle.
Happy Reading!
